Offline Data Storage Policy
This policy explains how Little Market & Little Invoice uses IndexedDB to provide a seamless, offline-capable experience on our platform.
Last Updated: April 20261 What Is IndexedDB?
IndexedDB is a low-level API for client-side storage of significant amounts of structured data, including files and blobs. Unlike traditional browser cookies, IndexedDB allows web applications to store large amounts of data locally within your browser, enabling faster access and offline functionality.
Little Market & Little Invoice system relies heavily on IndexedDB to ensure that your sales data, product catalog, and transaction records remain accessible even when your internet connection is intermittent or unavailable.
Key Benefit: IndexedDB enables Little Market & Little Invoice to function offline, ensuring uninterrupted sales processing regardless of your network conditions. All data is synchronised automatically when connectivity is restored.
2 Why We Use IndexedDB
Our Little Market & Little Invoice system is designed for reliability and performance. We use IndexedDB for the following purposes:
- Offline Sales Processing: Sales transactions can be completed without an active internet connection. Transactions are stored locally in IndexedDB and synchronised with our servers once connectivity is restored.
- Product Catalog Caching: Product details, pricing, inventory levels, and images are cached locally for instant access, reducing load times even offline.
- Transaction Logging: A local log of completed transactions ensures data integrity and provides a backup record in case of network issues during server synchronisation.
3 Data Synchronisation
When your device reconnects to the internet, Little Market & Little Invoice automatically synchronises locally stored data with our secure cloud servers. The synchronisation process:
- Uploads pending offline transactions to the central server.
- Downloads the latest product catalog updates and inventory changes.
- Resolves any data conflicts using timestamp-based priority (latest change wins).
- Retains a local backup of synchronised records.
You can monitor synchronisation status in real-time through the POS dashboard indicator. If synchronisation fails, you will receive a notification and can manually trigger a retry.
4 Data Security in Local Storage
Data stored in IndexedDB is encrypted and protected:
- Encryption: Sensitive transaction and customer data is encrypted before storage in IndexedDB using AES-256 encryption.
- Browser Isolation: IndexedDB data is sandboxed per origin, meaning other websites cannot access Little Market & Little Invoice data.
- Access Controls: IndexedDB data is only accessible within the context of our POS application and cannot be accessed by other browser tabs or extensions.
5 Privacy and Compliance
All data stored locally via IndexedDB and localStorage is governed by our Privacy Policy. Key principles include:
- Data stored locally is encrypted and cannot be accessed by third parties.
- You retain full ownership of your transaction and customer data.
- We synchronise only the minimum necessary data to provide our services.
- Local data is automatically deleted in accordance with our data retention schedule.
- You may request deletion of all your data (local and server-side) at any time.
6 Updates to This Policy
We may update this IndexedDB Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our storage practices, new features, or regulatory requirements. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information.
If we make significant changes to how we use IndexedDB, we will provide a prominent notice on our platform.
